Åbo Akademi University visits the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi

Professor Cataldo De Blasio from the Åbo Akademi University visited IIT-Delhi as part of his FICORE research collaboration in January 2023.

During the three weeks visit, Professor De Blasio presented the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Åbo Akademi University and his research topics at the Chemical Engineering Department. Professor De Blasio with the support of IIT-Delhi organized and participated in several workshops and seminars for faculty members, researchers, and students. During the events, Professor De Blasio presented the educational and research system in Finland and discussed possible ways of research collaboration. The presentations were received with enthusiasm and input for ways forward.

As part of the visit, Professor De Blasio visited several laboratories and facilities at IIT-Delhi. Researchers demonstrated facilities, laboratory settings, and their research topics in detail. According to Professor De Blasio, “the research level at IITs is excellent and they can count on an exceptionally good environment”. Professor De Blasio has also discussed possibilities for double and joint degree programs with the IIT-Delhi top management.

Professor De Blasio also collaborates with other IITs in India. He currently has two joint publications with IIT-Mumbai. As part of the FICORE network, Professor De Blasio will visit other IIT’s campuses in the near future.
