The Information Technology in Automation (ITiA) research group at the School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University, in collaboration with UniversalAutomation.org, is offering a specialized training course on the IEC 61499 standard for Industrial Automation. The course is designed to teach students and researchers about the IEC 61499 standard which is the key to OPEN and FLEXIBLE automation.

Industry 4.0 is gaining traction, and the need for industrial automation is intensively increasing across the world. Countries like India are increasingly investing in the manufacturing sector which will result in the need for more trained workforce soon.

Traditional industrial automation technologies such as the IEC 61131-3 have been around for a few decades but restrict the possibility of advanced modular and flexible automation. We as a research group work on the new automation standard, i.e., the IEC 61499. Partnering with industrial giants such as Schneider Electric and UniversalAutomation.org gives us the opportunity to focus on real-world problems.

We Invite You to Express Your Interest

We invite partners from India to join this call for collaboration in which we aim at introducing courses for bachelor’s and master’s students to learn this new technology and work with it. Furthermore, we look forward to research collaborations with joint international projects published by various international organizations.
